While driving around town over the weekend I ran across numerous instances of flood preparation. Admittedly, IÂ haven’t been paying much attention to the latest and greatest crest predictions so don’t know for sure where we stand. But the city is quite calmly taking care of things.
I was also not aware of this product, stamped, “Spirit of Fargo.” It’s a gigantic sandbag which obviates the need for much manpower.
Still, it’s a cringe-inducing sight. I’m not convinced having a flood fighting tool named after your town is a good thing.
Still there are hold-outs. I’m just thankful I don’t have to withstand the emotional gut-punch every spring like this fellow. He was soldiering away protecting his riverside home and had a few feet of protection already in place. I wish him the best.
